<div>Oliver Grau was appointed in 2005 the first Chair Professor of Image Science in the German speaking countries at the Danube University Krems. <a href="http://www.donau-uni.ac.at/db" target="_blank">www.donau-uni.ac.at/db<br /><br /></a>The aim of this contribution is to create an understanding that the present image revolution using indeed new technologies has also developed a large number of so far unknown visual expressions that cannot be conceived without our image history.</div>

<p>Mark Bolas is the Associate Director for Mixed Reality R&D at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, a research scientist, an artist, and a designer exploring perception, agency, and intelligence.<br /><br />Mixed and augmented reality is crossing the chasm from research to widespread adoption. This requires us to think beyond registered planes of pixels in space, and confront the unregistered mess of users, culture, and application. </p>
